I can't believe that
I'm 30 years old (yup!) but I still get affected of some silly rom-com (romantic-comedy) films!
And we're not even talking about Mila Kunis
and Ashton Kutcher here, we are talking about the famous Kathniel love team,
yes, ladies and gentle man, we are talking about the movie of Daniel Padilla
and Katherine ( I forgot her last name) She's dating the gangster. And yes,
feel free to close your browser and get out of my blog if you are the type of
the person who's not a big fan of Pelikulang Pilipino. I perfectly understand.
(Insert sarcastic face here)
Anyway, I've read
the book (out of curiosity) before they even thought of creating a movie
version of it.
First book
impression: Lame. (honestly)
I'm a big fan of
Martha Cecillia and those good old authors of Precious Hearts Romance pocket
books, and yes, I'm a normal person who grew up reading Tagalog pocket books,
buying them in bulk and rented some of them when I don't have enough cash to
buy. LMAO
So if you know these
authors, you'll probably understand what I'm talking about but if not, forget
about it.
So basically, I know
if the story itself was beautifully written and
technically perfect.
I also know if it
was generically written, technically average yet amazing and gripping story
will grab readers .
She's Dating The
Gangster would fall on the latter. People didn’t read the book to marvel at the
technical skill of the author, they read it for
the story.
I think the author
was trying to get the attention of teenagers who still believe that Jerry Yan
(Dao Ming Si) and
Barbie Hsu (Shan Cai) is the best love team EVUR and that the Meteor Garden
story is the greatest love story EVUR. Can't blame them, 'nuff said.
But anyhow, I did
watched the movie, bought tickets on line just to make sure that I'd get the
perfect seat assignment. Lol!
I did invite some friends but I was rejected like,
four times, Hahaha.
So my boyfriend was so kind enough to say yes and watch
with me.
I was expecting that the cinema house would be filled by
crazy teenagers and KathNiel believers
but I was surprised when I saw that there were no lines at all, there were few
couples but a LOT of senior citizens! But of course, It was Wednesday, It was
senior citizens day! and they can watch movies- for FREE!
I heard one of them said, akala daw nila
English nagulat sila sa simula ng movie, nagsalita ng tagalog- si Daniel
Padilla- anak daw ni RUSTOM PADILLA. Now that's LMAO!!
So there I was,
there were no "sigawan and kilig moments" factor like what I am
expecting, funny thing was-
I saw some old
couple smiling when Dawn Zulueta appeared and called Richard Gomez
"Gangster".
I saw some
couples cried, when Dawn died in
Richard's arms.
And when the movie
was finished, of course, as expected, I was in a comfort room with a bunch of old
folks.
I heard an old lady
said "That's why you should always decide wisely, sometimes it's okay to
be selfish- you have the right to be happy, specially in love."
And the other
grandma said, "Kung ako 'yun, eh ano kung may cancer si Abigail-eh may
sakit din si Athena nho! Mas masakit ang mabuhay ng may regrets!"
Mas masakit ang mabuhay ng may regrets!
Mas masakit ang mabuhay ng may regrets!
Mas masakit ang mabuhay ng may regrets!
Ouch!
Okay,
nuff said- I went into one of the toilet cubicles and start peeing.
Jesus, daig ko pa
nanuod ng Exorcism of Emily Rose, nakaka-kilabot! Badtrip! Hahaha
This is the kind of
the movie you thought would be bad but turned out pretty good, way better than the original story.
Mas okay pa sa
Coco-Sarah movie, (yup! Pinanuod ko rin yun!) lol
Or maybe, I'm just
overreacting because part of the story had happened to me.
You know, when you had to choose between doing what is right
and doing what feels good.
I chose to do what I
felt was right that time, I may have regrets, I may die having that kind of
regret and what if's but that's the reality. The sad reality.
I asked my boyfriend
when we left the movie house if that ever happened to him.
I mean, If he has
this someone that got away.
He said no and He
asked me, "Ikaw? Oh, I don't have
to ask that right?"
I smiled and bought
large shawarma instead, I ate silently.
Man, I want to pig
out that day, I felt familiar feelings and I hate it when I feel that way.
He knew about this
bald fil-am guy in my past. I know I should be happy right now because my
boyfriend is one hell of a nice guy and I should not be thinking of any of the
guy in my past anymore.
I have decided to
let go of any kind of feelings that I
have for this person long time ago.
But unlike with my
ex-boyfriends, I did not delete him as a friend in my Facebook account but we
are no longer talking or chatting. I guess some things are better left
unexplained. He doesn't know all the ways I loved him but I guess, it doesn’t matter
anymore. It would not matter anymore. (Insert sad face here)
Funny how this Lame Tagalog movie can affect me. I slept the whole day after that and hated Daniel Padilla's trying hard,90's gangster look! Hahaha! Peace!

GREAT BLOG, ANNE! MISSED YOUR STORY TELLING.
I ALSO SAW THE MOVIE AND APPRECIATED THE SACRIFICIAL LOVE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS.
YES, IT ALSO CAUSED ME TO FEEL A FAMILIAR FEELING. LETTING SOMEONE YOU LOVE SLIP AWAY FROM YOU, BECAUSE YOU THINK IT'S RIGHT AT THE TIME IS A GREAT DEED ACTUALLY. IT MAY HAVE BEEN AN ACT OF LOVE OR PLAINLY BECAUSE YOU DONT WANNA COMPLICATE THINGS MORE FOR OTHERS. WE MAY HAVE MADE UNLIKELY CHOICES BUT IT'S SURELY DONE OUT OF LOVE.
ALTHOUGH TOTOONG "MAS MASAKIT ANG MABUHAY NG MAY REGRETS."
THIS BLOG ENTRY IS SULIT. MAY BOOK REVIEW NA, MAY MOVIE CRITIC PA AT MAY PANALONG HUMOR PA. MAHUSAY!
I miss you and your blog!!!!
Im 33 pero kinikilig pa rin ako sa mga love stories/movies. love knows no age and boundaries.
It's good you don't dwell on the past because it fucks up the present and the future. Maybe you should avoid movies that make you think of stuff hehe. Natawa ako sa reactions ng mga seniors kay Daniel Padila LOL
